The Safety Regrounding is the process through which a victim reestablishes a sense of physical, emotional, and psychological security after experiencing harm and institutional failure. It begins when the institution stops compounding vulnerability—through burden transfer, minimization, or protection inversion—and instead creates conditions where the victim can stabilize without fear of retaliation, dismissal, or further harm. Safety Regrounding is not a return to the pre-harm state; it is the creation of a new foundation where boundaries are respected, needs are prioritized, and the environment becomes predictable and protective. As safety is regrounded, the victim’s nervous system shifts from survival mode to recovery mode.
